Peter Mayer brings his acclaimed Christmas tour, Stars and Promises, to ring in the season’s festivities for its 18th consecutive year. Mayer, a vocalist, guitarist and long-time member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band travels with a world-class ensemble of musicians that are electrifying in live performance.
The group covers a wide array of musical styles, moving effortlessly between folk, bluegrass, Celtic, jazz and classical notes with instruments that include piano, guitar, mandolin, violin, native flute, upright bass, drums and percussion. The music is accompanied by a production team that delivers exceptional lights and sound to capture each performance. Additionally, a live recording of each show is made available for sale immediately following the concert.
This year’s Stars and Promises theme is “When You Come Home.” The night will feature a collection of timeless carols, original songs and stories, which celebrate the magical Christmas season when families come together from near and far to share gifts of peace, joy, faith and love. The holiday season is also a time for giving to the needs in local communities. In each city that the tour visits, Stars and Promises partners with a local charity to raise funds for those in need and contributes 10 percent of its product sales to a chosen charitable cause. This year the Louisville concert will benefit Ovarian Awareness of KY, Gilda’s Club, and St. John Center for Homeless Men.

Louisville, Ky. September 28, 2016 : Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky recently announced that they would be honoring the soon retirement of Dr. John R van Nagell Jr and Ms. Mary Margaret Krahulec with a $5000 donation to the University of Kentucky’s Ovarian Cancer Screening Program.
Dr. John R van Nagell is the Director of the University of Kentucky Ovarian Cancer Screening. Ovarian Awareness of Kentucky (OAK), its survivors and its board fully appreciates Dr. van Nagells expertise in ovarian cancer early detection and research screening. Many of our survivors have been involved with the UofK program and is the reason why they were diagnosed at an earlier stage, extending their chances to live a longer life.
Mary Margaret Krahulec, has been involved with the Kentucky Homemaker leadership for many years in Shelby County and the Seven County Louisville Area. This year she was voted KEHA State President. The Kentucky Homemakers has been supporting the Ovarian Cancer Screening Research Project at the University of Kentucky for 40 years. During this time, KEHA has donated over 1 million dollars to this program! Over 52,000 women have been screened in those 40 years, 184 ovarian cancers have been detected and as of 2 years ago 102 of these women are still living. Those statistics that are not typical of late stage/diagnosed ovarian cancer.
Unfortunately, Mary Margaret found herself one of those newly diagnosed during a routine Ovarian Cancer Screening at UofK. Determined to fight and in gratitude to KEHA for encouraging the UofK screening program, Mary intends to spend the next three years of her term as KEHA State President promoting the UofK screening program in hopes that other women of Kentucky will be diagnosed early for treatment, hence prolonging their lives.
OAK is very proud to honor Dr. John R van Nagell and Mary Margaret Krahulec with this $5000 donation to the UofK Ovarian Cancer Screening Program. OAK actively promotes ovarian cancer awareness through its support groups, programs and events. OAK firmly believes that one day there will be a cure for Ovarian Cancer. And when that day comes, OAK, along with its supporters, will have been a part of it. You can find more information about OAK at www.oakky.org.
